COLLECT

Almighty and merciful God,

who, in the contemplation of the heart of your Son,

bestowed upon the Priest Saint Cajetan Errico

an admirable pastoral zeal,

grant that by his intercession

we may be witnesses of Christ everywhere,

enlivened by a spirit of faith that works through love.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, forever and ever.

first reading

Love the Lord your God with all your heart.

A reading from the Book of Deuteronomy                                                     61: 3-9

Moses said to the people:

“Hear, Israel, and be careful to observe these commandments,

that you may grow and prosper the more,

in keeping with the promise of the Lord, the God of your fathers,

to give you a land flowing with milk and honey.

“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone!

Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God,

with all your heart, and with all your soul,

and with all your strength.

Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today.

Drill them into your children.

Speak of them at home and abroad, whether your are busy or at rest.

Bind them at your wrist as a sign

and let them be as a pendant on your forehead.

Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.”

The word of the Lord.

responsorial psalm                                                                  Ps 18:2-3, 3-4, 47, 51

R/.      I love you, Lord, my strength.

I love you, O Lord, my strength,

O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.                      R/.

My God, my rock of refuge,

my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!

Praised be the Lord, I exclaim,

and I am safe from my enemies.

R/.

The Lord lives and blessed be my rock!

Extolled be God my savior.

You who gave great victories to your king

and showed kindness to your anointed.

R/.

second reading

Woe to me if I do not preach it!

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians                  9:16-19, 22-23

Brothers and sisters:

Thus should one regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Now it is of course required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.

It does not concern me in the least that I be judged by you or any human tribunal; I do not even pass judgment on myself; I am not conscious of anything against me, but I do not thereby stand acquitted; the one who judges me is the Lord.

Therefore do not make any judgment before the appointed time, until the Lord comes, for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will manifest the motives of our hearts and then everyone will receive praise from God.

The word of the Lord.

Alleluia, alleluia                                                                                                                                       cfr. Jn 15,1-5

I am the true wine and you are the branches, says the Lord.

Whoever remains in me, and I in him, bears fruit in plenty.

Alleluia

gospel

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

X A reading from the holy Gospel according to John                                             15:9-17

Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you.

Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,

just as I have kept my Father’s commandments

and remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you

and your joy might be complete.

This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.

No one has greater love than this,

to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

I no longer call you slaves,

because a slave does not know what his master is doing.

I have called you friends,

because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.

It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you

and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,

so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.

This I command you: love one another.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

The Creed is said

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Brothers and sisters, at all times, God, our Father, through the power of the Spirit raises up prophets and saints. Full of gratitude for giving us in Saint Cajetan Errico a singular imitator of Christ, let us pray for the Church and for the whole world, saying:

Our Father, hear us

God, source of all holiness, you called N. our Pope, N. our bishop, priests and deacons to be ministers of the Word and the sacraments that they may conform more and more to the mystery that they celebrate for your praise and the edification of your people:

Our Father, hear us

God of mercy, you made Saint Cajetan Errico a living image of your Son, extend the Church in every part of the earth and make it always happy herald of the Gospel:

Our Father, hear us

God of meekness, that in Saint Cajetan Errico have given us a model of poor and humble life, give all believers the joy of the spirit of the Beatitudes:

Our Father, hear us

God of love, you call your sons to collaborate on your plan of salvation, the Church arouses men and women capable of exercising the ministry of charity with the fraternal availability of which Saint Cajetan Errico was capable:

Our Father, hear us

God of hope, who does not disappoint the expectations of your people, may that in your Church arise religious and lay vocations as a sign of the primacy of the spirit and hope in the future:

Our Father, hear us

Holy Father, look upon your Church into whose hands have entrusted the Gospel of your Son and through the intercession of Saint Cajetan Errico not never miss the fruit and the sign of your love, so that it may proclaim with the power of the Spirit the word, that illuminate and save. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
